I had an old, blank long board laying around and wanted to paint something fun that would benefit from the long landscape composition.
I had just visited the Alabama Hills up in Lone Pine, Ca and took some photos of the amazing landscape there. Lone Pine is also home to the Lone Pine Film Museum which holds an impressive collection of movie props from movies filmed there over the past 100 years. Those movies include old westerns, and sci-fi classics. One of which was the 90's blockbuster, Tremors. This inspired me to design my own "tremors" like creature and drop it in an old western setting using my photos of Mt. Whitney as reference for the background landscape.
