Graphic Design & Illustration
DESCRIPTION
I'm always trying to advance my design skills, and what better way to do so than with logo design. It's a great way to exercise my creative thinking and problem solving skills.
I'm a huge movie fan, so I thought it would be fun to recreate logo designs of fictional brands that were used in some of my favorite movies. I also liked the idea of coming up with my own fictional brands and designing logos to fit that criteria.
ROLE
Design, Illustration, Creative Direction

DENIRO'S DINNER ROLLS LOGO DESIGN
I always wanted an excuse to draw a caricature of Robert Deniro. He has such a distinctly animated face that I thought would be fun to illustrate. I then wanted to incorporate the illustration into a logo for a fictional brand.
I pictured an Italian Dinner Roll company being a humorous brand that Deniro would lend his image to. I also had to add in his no nonsense attitude to help sell the product.

THE ARBORIA INSTITUTE LOGO DESIGN
Both fan art and design exercise, this logo was based on The Arboria Institute. A fictional New Age research facility that is the central location in the movie Beyond the Black Rainbow. A psychadelic, science fiction, horror trip.
I'm a big fan of the movie and it's 80's sci-fi visual aesthetic, so I wanted to create my own design borrowing from the movie's style.
The Arboria Institute is a mysterious facility that seems to be powered by a pyramid structure deep within the maze-like corridors of the building.
NORIEGA LEATHERS LOGO DESIGN
Another fan art design taken from the movie Beyond the Black Rainbow. This one is based off of the designer leather jacket brand that the main antagonist wears at the climax of the movie.
I chose a futuristic type face that also had a retro feel. I then adjusted certain elements of the font to further fit the movie's 80's sci-fi aesthetic, and made it look as though it was stamped onto leather.

CHEDDAR GOBLIN LOGO DESIGN
Both fan art and design exercise, this logo was based on the fictional macaroni & cheese brand used in the movie Mandy. Yet another movie from the same director as Beyond the Black Rainbow, Panos Cosmatos.
Cheddar Goblin serves as the macaroni & cheese brand's mascot, who in an advertisement, throws up buckets of his product all over some unsuspecting children. It's some finely placed comedy relief that really ties the movie together.
I love how the director and the design team create their own fictional brands rather than relying on actual product placement. It really shows their commitment to the vision.
